The Woods Campground

We are in Montgomery Al. Tonight. It is 40 right now. Going down to the 30s tonight. I checked Foley and it is going to be warmer down there. At least after tomorrow. The fridge seems to be working. So maybe the thermometer is not working right. I put one in the Freezer and it is down real cold. Will get a new one next week. Well that is it for tonight. Oh the big slide wouldn't come in this morning. Had a couple of guys in the campground help me push it in. hope it works in the morning.  Will let you know tomorrow.Latter all Ron Thelma and Eli

Nashville, Tn

We got here at the campground around 5:20 Eastern time. We are now on Central time. It rained when we got here. Had a little just before that. We got set up with a little sprinkles.Just hooked up electric. They are saying cold temps tonight Below freezing. not sure the fridge is working quite right yet. They checked all they could. The orfice for gas was plugged and they blew it out so it works now. Guess that is it for tonight.. Birmingham tomorrow.Later all  Ron Thelma and Eli

A little change in plans

We were going to try and get started at 6in the morning. Well our fridge doesn't seem to be working right. so in the morning we are going to Decatur to the dealer there and have them check it out. Would rather do it now rather than trying to find someone on the road. So we will get started  about 3 hrs later. We can still get to Nashville I think. If not we will stop sooner. Well guess that is it. The trailer is packed and hooked up. Will go to McDs for breakfast  and then head to Decatur to be there at 8. Said he would get us right in. Told him were heading south. Well the last couple of days has cost me money. Last spring on the way back from Florida I blew two tires on the trailer. I had to have a guy come out and put one on. That cost me money. When we got to Louisville Ky I bought a spare. When back home I took the trailer to my friendly little tire place out in the country. Had 4new ones put on. So I had and extra good tire so had the tire dealer get a rim and put it on. I was going to use the truck to take it out but the batteries were dead. The truck is a 2006 and had the original batts. When  I got home from there we were going to go out to eat. Went to get in the car and Thelma said we have a flat. I had put the charger on the truck and had told the dealer to order me two new batts. He gave me a good price. So this morning I got the tire off the car and put it in the bed and the truck started. Went out and got two new batts and tire fixed. Wasn't too bad on cost. Sure does start a lot better. If they last as long as the original that may be the last ones I need. 5 more days and we head south. Hope the weather is good. We had a high here today of 21 Boy that was a heat wave.

update on Thelma

On Monday we saw the Dr that sent her to the surgeon. He said the cancer cells were so small that the only thing that he thought needed to be done was remove the connector between the two thyroid glands. We are clear to go south and see the surgeon when we get back in the spring..Hurrah. We will be leaving around the 28or 29th. Hope it warms up a bit so we can load the camper.Always a pain to do that. Thought I should let you all know.   Ron and Thelma and Eli

Update on Thelma

Since I had posted here that Thelma had surgery on her thyroid thought I ought to let those that read this that we had a little setback. Yesterday she received a call from the surgeon that he wanted to see her. They had sent part of the thyroid for a second opinion to Mayo. They found some cancer cells. Not real big. So now she will probably have to have some more surgery and then some radiation. He said we can go south for the two months that we had planned. Then when we get back In April we will call and get that taken care of. Just knew when they called that something was  not right. They had checked some of the thyroid when they did the surgery. That part must have been okay. He says this is easy to take care of. So at the end of this month we are headed for Foley, Al. Other that that things are good. Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Reservations made

Finally found a place that we can stay at the month of Feb. It is at Anchors Away at Foley ,Al. Had hoped to stay closer but all the places I called were full or only part of the month. They have hot tub pool wifi cable full hook ups. We have to pay for electric.That might be a bummer. Depends on how cold it is. If we run heaters a lot. Propane might be cheaper. We will leave here at the end of the month. So that is taken care of. Now need to start thinking about a place in Texas for next year. That's it for now Later Ron Thelma and Eli
