HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Here is a cute picture that I took the other day of two pelicans swimming together. Just like a couple of love birds. They were away from the other pelicans. I saved it for today. It has finally gotten sunny down here. We went to the tanger outlet mall today. I got a couple of pair of shoes bought one got one half price One is a dress type the other is walking shoe. I will go over later to the activities center and upload the pictures from the parade last night. We have two more next Tuesday One in Gulf Shores the other in Orange beach where we were last night. Then later in the afternoon is a boat parade on the waterway. Will just get pictures for that one. Have the race on but it is stopped for repair to the track. We are expecting rain tonight. They have a weather advisory for tonight on TV. Not sure for what. Well That is about it for today. Unless something else happens Later Ron Thelma and Eli

  1. Glad you're getting some sunshine. That boat parade sounds neat. Sound like you will be doing up "Fat Tuesday" in a big way. I think we always knew it as Shrove Tuesday; maybe the Fat Tuesday name comes from the Mardi Gras celebrations. We had the race on, too, after I reminded Dennis that it was on. When they stopped it, he went out to the garage and I turned it to Olympics. Later he came back in and checked and it was back on so he watched the rest of it. I was tired and so napped during some of it.

  2. I will look forward to seeing the pictures of the boat parade. That sounds really neat. Fat Tuesday is actually the Tuesday before Lent begins when everyone eats a lot because of fasting during the Lenten season. A lot of people give us something for Lent so they want to consume more before it starts.

  3. Basicaly they are the same thing. Shrove Tuesday is the English or Anglican name. Mardi Gras is the French term for it. Very popular in New Orleans because that is a town settled by the French. Same thing in St. Louis - again, settled by the French. BTW, did you know that St. Louis has the second largest Mardi Gras festivities outside of New Orleans?
