Here is a nest across the road from the park. This looks almost like an eagle. We didn't do much today were going to go to the island and the USS Alabama. Well when we got to the ferry there was delay. It was going to be 2 hrs which would have been close to noon when we got there so deceided to go another day. We did stop at a beach area where there is a bunch of sand dunes. We walked a little on the beach and picked up some sea shells. I took some pictures and will put them up on the pictures site in a day or two. I took the above picture on the way back. We also went to the post office to mail a letter. Really exciting day. I used a 300 mm lens to take the picture but still can't tell for sure what it is. I will ask around the nature center and see if they know what it is. That's about it for tonight Later All Ron Thelma and Eli who is in bed already.

  1. Probably a good idea to do the ferry trip another day so you can go earlier in the day. The picture is neat. Hope they can tell you what it is for sure. When we were in FL and on the bus for our tour at the space center, the driver pointed out a bald eagle's nest in a treetop rather close to the road. It was huge. The driver said a person could actually lay down in it. Did not see an eagle, though. Oh, your day was more exciting than mine. I'd druther be walking on the beach than driving in the snow.

  2. That looks a lot like a bald eagle. We saw several of them when we were in Alaska. Some in nests (yep, they are huge) and some just on branches. Looks just like the ones we saw.

  3. The nests for a bald eagle grow as time goes by. They add to it each year. We have not gone down to the river yet to see the eagles here. Last year we saw about 20 in one spot. They winter over by Alton IL which is just across the river from St. Louis.

  4. Wow, that is so cool. Too bad about the ferry.

Snowed here...bunches. Spring and Georgia love playing in the white stuff. Lenny not as much but he did stretch his legs a few times. Guess I should use my blog to post some pictures or something.
