Follow up visit

This afternoon Thelma had her follow up with the surgeon. Everything was good. She still has some swelling but he said that will go down in about another month. He said biopsy came back negative.That  was good. She had a nodule on her thyroid That is why they had to take part of it. Now in Jan she sees the Dr that sent her to the surgeon to see how her levels are doing. Think that is around the 17 or so. After that we hope to head south. We had a little snow during the night but nothing on the roads around here. They had a couple of schools closed in Jay and Wells county which are SE of us. Well guess that is it for tonight. Thelma is home and doing pretty good. Came home about10:30 or so yesterday. She slept most of the day. She said at the hospital they came in about every hour to check on her and do her vitals. She is doing better today. She took some pain pills during the night. She slept pretty good. She is still pretty week. She sees the surgeon next Fri. Want to ask some questions then. Got our Christmas cards ready today. Will mail tomorrow. Guess that is it for tonight  Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.

Surgery over.

Just got home from the hospital about30minutes ago. Held the dog for bit and then got on here. The surgery last4hrs. was to be only 2. They took out3 of the para-thyroid glands. One was still okay. Also about half of her thyroid. They kept her overnight as the surgery lasted so long.They took her back about 1:30 but we did not see the Dr till 5:30. Made for a long afternoon. She most likely will come home tomorrow. I will go back up around 9 in the morning. hope she has a good nights sleep.Will update tomorrow after she comes home. Later Ron Thelma and Eli. One down one to go

Today our Son had his surgery for gall bladder. The Dr said it was sick. He did good. Took about and hour. When he was about to go home we left and came home. We had gotten up at 5.Not used to that time. When I was working I started work at 5. Next week Thelma has her surgery. We don't know what time yet will find out on Tues.Hope it isn't quite so early. Catch up time

I seem to have trouble keeping up with this blog. Not much going on. Yesterday we went to a funeral for a cousin. I think 3rd. I remember when my Mom passed he asked me where all the cousins were. Well a lot of them are gone. I told Thelma that I was making sure one was going to be there. He had been in a nursing home for 4 years so it was a blessing. Got to talk to some of the cousins at the dinner after. Since he had served in WW2 they placed an American flag on the casket as we went to the cemetery. They then folded it at the end and gave it to his wife. That is always so great to see. We have had all our leaves picked up by the city. Today I had the neighbor guy come over and help me put in a couple of new bibs for the washer hoses. One of the hoses got a hole in it and when I tried to take it off it broke. So had to replace them. He has all the tools. He is getting up in years so don't know what I will do when he is gone. He gave me a couple pipe wrenches. big ones. I have one smaller one. Well guess that is it for now. Gary our son has surgery for gall bladder on Fri and Thelma has surgery a week from Wed. Busy times.  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Update

This has been a pretty busy week. On Monday Thelma and I had eye appt. We both had to get new glasses. We decided to get the transition lenses. They came in Fri. So far I really like them so does Thelma. They even get a little dark in the car. I had some years ago and they didn't change when in a vehicle. On Tues Thelma had hair appt. I had mine on Wed. morning and then in the afternoon we had our Dr appt. Our A1C was good. Mine was 6.8. Wish it was a little lower but Dr was pleased. Cholesterol was good also. Then on Thursday Thelma had her appt with the surgeon for the para-thyroid gland. The Dr did a scan and found some nodes on her thyroid. So part of that needs to come out too. She will have the surgery on Dec 12. SO we don't know when we are going south at this point. We might just head for Al. and stay there till time for out retiree rally in Louisiana Right now we don't know. Thelma needs to see the Dr that sent her to the surgeon 30 days after the surgery . That means at least till the middle of Jan before we can go anywhere. Well guess that about catches up our week. Now we have nothing planned for awhile.  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Catch up time

We have been busy doing leaves cleaning out the camper and getting it ready for winter.We will be going south after Christmas we hope. Thelma needs surgery on one of her para-thyroid glands.It is overworking and needs to come out. She sees the surgeon on Nov. 1. Will find out then when the surgery is.I have done 5loads of leaves with our vacuum Still have three trees to do. With the wind we are having they should be down in another week.  The city picks up our leaves as we can't burn them here in the city. They will come around in two weeks from now and pick up the last ones to come down. We are done camping for this year. today we had our A1C blood tests and then in the afternoon eye Dr appt. Need glasses changed again. Not all that much but enough. Tomorrow Thelma gets here hair done.I get that Wed morning and then in the afternoon we see our family Dr. It will be a busy week. Back home

We were gone for 3days to a Halloween campout at Mansfield Ohio. Kinda long drive but we enjoy the Ohio people. We have a lot of friends over there. I have some pictures to upload but the camera is still in the trailer. Need to get it in the house. When we were ready to go out to eat after we got home I looked at the trailer as I was locking the door and told Thelma Something doesn't look right on the roof. Went inside and looked at the fantastic fan and the vent was gone. Not sure if the strong wind's we had tore it off. Tomorrow I need to call trailer place here and see if they can get me one or do I call Fantastic. Will need to get that done asap. got it covered with garbage bag for now. Tipton,In

We are stopped for the night at the fairgrounds in Tipton. Went out for Pizza with Thelma's sister and niece. Stopped at their house for a bit and then came back here. We will leave in the morning for home. We had no problem getting out today. It had dried off quite a bit. Was surprised The couple next to us made it out with a big motorhome. Heading home tomorrow

Tomorrow we head back to Fort Wayne, We stopping Sunday night to dump and visit Violet and Sherryl  We will leave on Monday morning  for the Fort. Tomorrow morning is church and then the annual meeting. Should be out of here by noon. Hope so. We had a lot of rain last night but think it dried off quite a bit today Well that is about it for tonight. tomorrow I will update some more. It is late now so going to bed pretty quick. The rally is over

This morning the men made breakfast for he ladies. We had scrambled eggs bacon ham sausage, gravy and biscuts fried potatoes. Oh we also had pancakes. We eat very well. Then they had the poker walk. In the afternoon we had the finale of the Senior Olympics. We had golf drive, sponge toss,and a rubber toy toss. Everyone had a good time. We are going to do it again next year. Then we had our buisiness meeting and election of officers. Then our Ice cream social. All in all we had a great week Tomorrw the rest of the state will come in. Busy Day

Today was a busy day. We played three of our senior Olympics. We had a bean bag toss, tube toss where you had to put tennis balls in five different sized tubes. A potty toss where you throw toilet paper into a potty. Then right after lunch some of us went to a raptor center. I was going to post some pictures but the net is so slow down here. So will do them later in the week or next week when home. Then after that we had a  small reception for our International retiree King  and Queen. They are from S Carolina. Then this evening we had a carry in Dinner with the club furnishing ham. The ham was good. Tomorrow is just about as busy. We will finish of the games and have our business meeting and then Ice cream social. So  that is about it for today. Dayone down

Well one day is down. Today was registration and Bean bag baseball.This evening we had out soup supper. We had some left over. It went over good. Tomorrow we play games in the morning and tour a raptor center in the afternoon. Then in the evening is our pitch in dinner. The club furnishes the meat. Should be a good feed. Nashville, In

We have made it to Nashville. Right now it is raining. Jim and Sandie it didn't hold off. We arrived here about 10:30 this morning. Got set up and then went and put the signs out on the road to direct people here. Most know how to get here. We have been coming here for quite a few years. We took our International Retiree King and Queen out to eat tonight. There was 16 of us. We had the back room and had a great time. Leon and Lanelle are a great couple. They are from S.C They had a pretty long drive. I think they said they had driven 8000  miles this year since being crowned in March. Hope this rain stops before tomorrow. We need dry time to play games. Tomorrow night is Soup night. Need to start that in the early afternoon. Well it is getting late.Lots to do tomorrow.Later Ron Thelma and Eli

Leaving in the morning

Tomorrow we leave for Nashville, In. That is where are retiree rally is. At the fairgrounds in Nashville. The rally is from Tues to Thurs. We have a lot planned home it doesn't rain . The forcast is for rain three days. We are playing some games that need to be played outside. We hope to be on the road about 9:30 About 80minutes from here. We have had a good time here. Shelbyville, in

We arrived here at the fairgrounds around 1:00 this afternoon. We had planned on coming yesterday but ran out of time. This evening we went out to a restaurant for walleye. Sure was good. Tomorrow we are going to the Farmers market in town and then to a museum. Probably Sun we will go to church and then just stay at home and get ready to move on Sunday. Back home

We got home about 3 this afternoon.Had a great time over in Ohio. Had pancakes and sausage this morning Then church. I read the opening for the service. The Chaplin is a retired minister and does a great job. We will be leaving again in a few days for Brown County. Will be going by way of Shelbyville, in. They only had about 25 units at the Ohio campout. Seems they don't have as many like they used too either. We hope to go to the Halloween campout in Oct. Have to see what the Dr tells Thelma when to have the surgery. She has a para thyroid glad that is bad. She has a scan in the morning to see which one it is. Almost over

Tomorrow morning  we have a pancake breakfast and then church. After that we will head home. Last night we had a storm here. 1.5 inches. of rain. Blew pretty good. One couple had their awning taken off while they were up in the building. We had come back earlier Tonight we had a potluck supper. Too much to eat. Tried to watch but that didn't do much good. Plain City Ohio

We arrived around 3 this afternoon. Made a couple of pit stops along the way. According to my GPS we drove about 2 1/2 hours.This is really a nice campground.
So far we are  the only ones here. The rest will come in tomorrow and

Going on a little trip

Tomorrow we leave for a State Campout at Plain City Ohio.This is around Amish territory. The retiree part is on Thurs and then the rest of the people come in on Friday. We should have a good time. It is cool here. Hope it warms up some. Had to wear jeans the last couple of days. Maybe we will get Indian summer soon. Home for a while.

We are back home. Just got the trailer backed in and had got unhooked and was trying to level the trailer and it cut loose. Rain that is. Not sure how much but it rained hard for a little bit. We went out and had lunch. Late one. By the time we got back the sun was out. Finished up with the trailer and got rooms out. We had a great week at the Gypsy Journal rally. Last day and last rally

Tonight we had the last door prizes. We won a 25 dollar gift certificate to a Internet RV accessories store. Not sure what we will use it for. Sure would have liked to win the kayak they gave away. It is a blow up one. After that Thelma and Iran into Walmart to get a few things. We will start home in the morning. Sure had a good time. Our first one of these was in 2008 here in Celina and it ends here in Celina.  I understand why they are not doing it anymore. Not making any money just doesn't do it and people said if they raise the cost they won't come. Gee it cost's a whole 125 for four days of seminars. Buckeye Beauty contest

Today was another day of seminars. Tried to get to as many as possible. Did 4 today. Wefound out last night that there will not be a Gypsy Journal Rally next year. Not one in Arizona or here in the fall. He is losing money so is not worth it.The insurance has gone up so much. Sure glad wecould make this one. We have made 3 of them now. this evening we had our pizza party and then the buckeye bueaty contest. you never saw such ugly women. Here is a picture of the group fromr the pizza party. Tourist time

Today Thelma and I did a little driving around Grand Lake. There was a couple of Lighthouses that we want to see. One was close to town and the other was at the south end of the lake. Here is the one closest to town. Well something is not working  Server will not upload. Maybe tomorrow I can get it to work. Tomorrow starts the seminars.I will be going to one on blogger.Maybe I can find out what is wrong. Should have had the camera with me tonight. After the door prize drawings we went to Micky Ds for Ice cream. There was a beautiful rainbow dropping down to the lake. Really nice colors. Celina,Ohio

We got to the fairgrounds around 10:30 this morning.Had good driving weather. Not much traffic either. We have a good spot right close to the road in case it rains a bunch. So far we have not had too much rain from Issac. Kinda  glad as we are parked on grass. So is everybody else. To much rain would make a mess. Tomorrow is when it all starts. not much going on tomorrow. Tues is filled from 9 in the morning till 5in the afternoon with seminars. Have to pick and choose.Well that is it for today. Gypsy Journal Rally

Tomorrow we leave for the rally over in Celina Ohio. Nick Russel and his wife Terry put this on. They do two a year. One out west and one in the east. It is a good rally They have a lot of seminars and lots of door prizes. We have not been able to make it the last couple of years due to conflicts of other events. We will be back home on Fri. Back home

We came home on Fri morning. Spent a good week with friends. Talked about the old days camping. Had to mow the lawn again Sun afternoon. Seems like it is making up for all the time it didn't grow. We will be home till labor day weekend when we go to a Gypsy Journal rally in Celina Ohio. This is a good rally to learn a lot of different things. Back in FortWayne Sort of

I'm a little behind in my blog. We went to the RV Show in Elkhart,In They held it this year at the RV  Hall of Fame Museum. It was outside and sprinkling a little. Made it kind of messy. They had quite a few trailers there. On Fri we came back to the Fort and parked at Johnny Appleseed campground. Our friends from Ky are here so we decided to stay a week here with them. Has made it nice as then we don't have  to travel all the way from the south side of town to the north. We went out to the house on Fri and stopped and picked up mail. Did some laundry. Also went out on Sunday and cut grass. With the rain we have had it has really gotten green and grown. I also picked up some branches and put them on the chipper pile. Got a bunch to do. It has been pretty nice weather here. Cool at night and warm during the day. There is also a friend of ours here who we camped with years ago when we both belonged to the same camping club. In fact we were charter members of it. We had some great times camping together  Right Bob. His wife passed away a couple of years ago.  So he and his cat are still full timing. Elkhart, In

We left Shipshewanna this afternoon after walking the rest of the flea market. Bought a couple of more things. Later Tues we drove around a little of the country side and I took a few photos
I could could spend a week up here. There is some Mennonites up here. I talked to our waitress at a restaurant and she was Mennonite.  Here is another photo

Tonight we are parked at a campground behind what used to be Hart City RV. The bays are being used by a repair and collision service. Full hookups for 25. It sure is dark here though. Shipshewanna

We are now in Shipshe. Tomorrow we will go to the flea market. We have made a list of what we want. Not sure if we will get it all. We left the fairgrounds in Greentown around 10 this morning Stopped at a McDonald's. Eli got his McDouble. It has been a while since he got one. He only gets it when we are traveling with the trailer. Some friends that are camping in Fort Wayne are coming up They will call when they get here. We are camped at the Flea market campground. Makes it nice walk across the road and you are there. We had a successful  campout. 39 units and 4 second families. Things went good. But I wouldn't want to do it again. Almost over

Well it is almost over already.They announced who our new teen queen was tonight. It was not who I thought would get it. This girl is only 14 which I think is pretty young. We shall  see next year when we go to Iowa. We had a couple of storms here today. Blew my little fridge of the table outside and ruined by table that it set on. Will take a picture in the morning. Tomorrow we have church at 9  and then take down all the chairs and tables that are still up. We are going into Tipton to eat with our niece and Thelma's sister. Greentown,In

We are in Greentown for a state campout. The retirees are hosting this one. The teens did the one in the spring. Hope we have as many as they did. Tomorrow is when everyone else comes in. today it was mostly officers who are here.  I'll cut this short tonight more tomorrow night Maybe  some pictures.Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Rain

Well At last we had some rain.I looked this morning after the rain stopped and we had 2.25 inches of rain in the last two days. I can't even remember when we had rain. Think it might have been when we had the storms a couple of weeks ago.This is the most we have had in quite a while. This will maybe help the soybeans around here. I think it is too late for the corn. We went to a garage sale this morning in the rain. Thelma bought a quilt stand for 5 $ It is in really good shape. It was and estate sale. Nothing else to interest us. My niece in Tipton In had lighting  hit her big oak tree. Stripped the bark right off it. Her and her Mom were in the car just arriving home when it happened. Scared them. She now has a mess to clean up.Well that is it from here. We have been using the pool the last week or so. Sure feels good when it is 90 or more. Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Lost the power again.

Last evening we went to a funeral home out north of town. Had some hard rain and hail there. We then went to eat. When we were almost home noticed some stop lights not working. Thought oh oh Sure enough we had no power. Fired up the generator and plugged in the camper. Slept in it last night. Sometime during the night the power came on as I had left the outside light on When I woke up this morning the light was on. Boy this has been some week . They have almost everyone back on power now I think.Well that is it for now. Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Update on power

We got our power back on Monday just before noon. We had to be at the hospital for Thelma to have an iron infusion. She is low on iron so has had three iron infusions. Also had a couple of other tests. She goes in later this month to see another specialist for her thyroid. That is part of the reason we are not going to Canada for our campvention. Since medicare doesn't cover us up there we are not taking any chances on anything going wrong. We have not missed one since we rejoined. Today it is 100 with a heat index of 106 last I looked. Think I got the pool about ready to use. Hope so It is about84 in the water. Well that is it for now Later all Have a happy 4th

Camping in the driveway

We had a storm here in FT Wayne this afternoon. Trees down in the area. No Power. So fired up the little Honda and moved to thefiver. Now we have lights and tv.Here is a picture of one of the trees just down the road  They say we had 91 mile anhour winds. Looks like it. We have a few small branches down. Not bad. Back Home

Well we are back home. We are tired. We had a good rally. On Thurs night we had Larry Gatling and the Gatling brothers. This was a good show. On Fri night was Burt Backarach He was okay I guess. Not my type of music. On Sat night was Sheryl Crow. We stayed about 10 Minutes and walked out along with half the crowd. It was so loud and not the type of music for 60 - 80 year olds. Don't know who did the entertainment but they should be fired.. On Sunday they had and Elvis impersonator. He was really good. I would place him right behind the Gatling's.He had a nervous twitch in his leg. It kept shaking all the time. Ha. He didn't try to sing like Elvis. But did so many of his songs. The rally had a lot of motorhomes. Not a lot of towables. I will post some pictures and also put a link up for all the pictures in the next few days. It is going to be hot here the next few days. like 100+. Need to get the pool ready. Any other year it would be cool when we are home. Not this year. Shepaardsvile. Ky

We got here about 2:30 this afternoon. Made good time. It is stinking hot here. Took me a long time to get all set up. Got the trailer set up and hooked to electric and then turned on the a/c. Took awhile till it cooled down. We sat out side and talked with our friends. There are a lot of campers here that are leaving tomorrow to stay on the rally grounds. hope their electric is good.They use big generators for the electric. With this heat they better be big. Leaving tomorrow

We are heading to Louisville in the morning We are going to the good SAM rally there. We will be staying at a campground just south of  there. That way we will have good electric and full hookups for the week. Not sure just what time we will leave in the morning. Want to get an early start as it is going to be another hot one. Thought I should update. We have not gone camping this week. We had talked about going to a retiree rally in Ohio but decided to skip it this year. Need to get some things done around here. Have a wedding Sat night. Here is a couple of pictures from the samboree that we went to last week. Don't know if you know what they are or not. I remember them from a long time ago.

The first one is a binder. This is what you cut the wheat with and made it into bundles and then you stacked them up and made shocks with them
The second one is the separator or thrashing machine as we called it.This is an Advance Rumley like Uncle Carl and Uncle Rudy had. I remember going around the to the neighbors and thrashing. The women always made great meals. I drove a tractor with a wagon for a few years and then loaded the bundles on the wagon
The last one is an old type of sickle type of cutter and wind rower.The boards had rakes on them and moved the wheat of in windrows and then you had to go along and pick it up and put it on the wagon.  So little history lesson today. Going home

Tomorrow we head for home. Tonight was the last entertainment. It was pretty good.He was not the original planned entertainment. The group that was supposed to come had some emergency. Been a while

It has been sometime since I last posted.  We are at a samboree in greentown, In.They had190 some units here last night and expect 75 more. .This is at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Nice facilities. Good electric which is nice since it is going to get up to  the 90's here today. Warmer Sat and Sun. They say it might be a record for the Indy 500. Not sure that is a good thing.We will probably not be able to see it here as we get Indy stations. blacked out here I think. Need to check on that. This afternoon we are going into Kokomo to tour a museum. Shall see how that  turns out. Will post a few pictures  later. That is it for today  later Ron Thelma and Eli

We have moved

We have moved to the Tipton County Fairgrounds for about 6 days. We had a good campout at the White river campground but wont be back next year. They raised the rates 10 dollars a night. We sent the board a letter but not sure what good that will do. Here is a picture of our group. We had 14 units and 22 people. 3 singles the group.

We had a great time. Almost everyone left this morning.. Some going home others going camping at other places. Not sure what all we will do here. Thelma has relation here so will spend time with them.Well  that is it for this day  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

We have moved to Whiteriver campground at Cicero In. This is a great county campground. We are here for our retiree fun campout. Thelma and I host this every year for the last 3 yrs. Tues we will have a pitch in dinner with ham for the meat. It should be a good time.We will spend time playing games and talking. Will try and get some pictures posted on here. Bear Creek Farms

We arrived around 11 this morning. Got set up and sat around with a few other campers. This evening the teens fixed hot dogs for us. They were pretty good. Also had smores. Tomorrow we are going to a show and a lunch buffet. Will probably eat to much food. Well that is about it for tonight Later all Ron Thelma and Eli.

New puter

Well today I got a new computer. Its a Toshiba.Has a faster processor than the old one.The other one died.Mother board went out.Had to get a mifi as my old air card would not work.They no longer make ones with slots for it. I need to take the old one in now and have them transfer from the old one to the new one. They will take the hard drive out and put the stuff on the new one. I have to put the programs on this one.they will put all my favorites and all the files on it Well guess that is it for tonight

Cold and Windy

So far it has been a cold and windy Sat. Yesterday was not too bad. This morning it was windy and cold. We had a tour of a small candy factory/store about 8 miles north of here. That was very interesting. They do almost everything by hand. They did a slide show. Then we bought some sugar free candy. They had a lot of it. On the way home it started sleeting. Couldn't believe that. It turned to rain after we got home. Stopped on the way and filled up the truck with fuel. This afternoon we played card bingo. Thelma won 3 times the last time she won 5 dollars. Two other times she got 2 60. She never wins at regular bingo where you put something on the cards. Tonight we have a chicken dinner and then entertainment. Elvis is in the house. He had been here before. He is pretty good. He doesn't do all the Elvis shaking Just sings his songs good. Got the camper back

This morning I went down and picked up the fiver. When I hooked it up and plugged in the electric cord it said trailer disconnected on my brake controller. Oh Oh. So I tried the hazard lights. Nothing on the trailer. Pulled up to the office and told them We have a problem. The service manager came out and checked. I didn't have any turn signals coming out of the truck. Well I had blown a fuse under the hood. Got that fixed. Still no brakes. The checked the box at the hitch and they had wired it wrong. They fixed that and I was on my way. Got new studs on the rear axle. Now I need to find all the nut covers that I took off when we had all the flats. They are in the basement somewhere. So we have 4 new tires and one new spare. I kept the one other tire that I bought and going to put it on another rim and have two spares when we make a long trip like south to Fl . That way I won't get taken again. The guy down in Ky really took me. I bought the tires here for half the price that guy charged me. Nothing you can do when you are stranded on the road.  Well that is it for tonight. I hate this new blogger

I sure wish they had this new format or whatever you call it up their you know what. I sure have a lot of trouble finding my way around. I haven[t posted for a few days and when I got on it was new. Does anybody else hate it or do you like it better. I don't know why they had to change it. Well off my soapbox now  later  Ron and Thelma and Eli

New tires

Today I had new tires put on the trailer. They were the same make as what I had put on down in Ky when we had two flats. I got two here for almost what one cost me down there. I had to pay a extra charge since the guy came out to us but the tire was about 50$ more than what I paid here. I also took the trailer to a dealer to have the studs replaced on the hub. The rear axle had both hubs with two damaged studs. They will replace all six in each one. Boy this has been an expensive year. Hope to have it back by the weekend of the 27-8 We are planning on going to Ohio for a campout over there. He said he should be able to do it. I have somebody coming to fix the dryer Fri afternoon. Yea more money. We went to the laundromat the other day to get some clean clothes. Well guess that is it for tonight Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Got another new tire today so hope we make it home without blowing another one. Think we will get some new ones when we get back. Did some laundry today so that is taken care of for a little while. A bad day

We got started around 9 this morning. Stopped at a tire store and got the tires all aired up. We made pretty good time. When we got into Ky we had one tire blow out along I65. Called road service and they sent somebody out to change it. Had to wait an hour or more. He put the spare on and then about an hour later the spare blew. Of course we had no spare. drove along the berm to the next exit and got off. There was a station there so asked them about a tire place. They gave me a number to call. I talked to the guy and he had a tire so he came out and put a new tire on . Big bucks. Tire plus service call. Now we are in Sheperdsville, Ky for tonight and tomorrow night. I will try and find a tire here tomorrow. We have not unhooked as it was dark when we got here. Got the electric hooked up and came in. They have wifi here so tomorrow will try and get all the pictures uploaded. The Mc Ds. wifi sucked. Well that is for tonight Hope tomorrow is better  Later Ron Thelma and Eli

Dissapointment

We went to the reenactment today. Talk about a muddy mess. It rained yesterday morning and the place was terrible. I know they had nothing to do with the rain. They did not have the battlefield set up very well. The rebels had there backs to us. They should have had them 90d from us. That way we could have seen both sides. This was our 4th one to see.  This is the worst one as far as organization goes. Talked to a reenactor walking down the road and said this was his fifth one and he agreed with me as for the organization. Not sure why The last one was over 10 yrs ago. I was still working at least we think so. I did take some pictures and a little video with my camera. Tomorrow I am going to McDs and use their wifi to upload some pictures and video. We will be leaving on Monday morning. Not sure exactly what time and where we will be stopping. Will just drive and see. Might try and make it to Shepardsville Ky and stop overnight there. Depends on the weather what time we get started and traffic. WE have ordered a DVD of this battle. Should be pretty good as they have people right out in the field with the troops. Big day tomorrow

Today we went out for lunch. Had coupons for free appetizer and free cobbler. We had to pay for one cobbler but it was worth it. We had rotel cheese and tortilla chips for the appetizer. Brought some of that home. Thelma brought home some of her meal. Tomorrow we are going to the reenactment. Getting up early as I expect a traffic jam. They are predicting a lot of watchers. It rained this morning. I awoke about 3 or so and it was lightly raining then. It rained harder as the day went on. It finally quit about noon. Then the sun came out. Laid back day

This morning we went to the Waffle house here for breakfast After that we went to the Laundromat to wash some clothes. That should be the last we do till we get home. Then this afternoon I washed the front end of the truck and front of the Montana. Boy I don't think we ever had that many bugs. Not sure where we got them all. Still not all off the front of trailer. They might wait till we get home. I really don't want to get out the ladder here. It is a lot cleaner than it was.  Well that is it for tonight Not sure what else we will do tomorrow. Shiloh Battlefield

Today we went and toured the Shiloh battlefield. Took us about 4 hours. I think. Very interesting. Saw a short movie at the visitors center. Then did the driving tour. I was amazed at how many units from Indiana were clear down here for the war. Here is some pics

Here is the Shiloh church which gave the battle its name. This is where it started.

This tree has an eagles nest in it You can just barely see the eagles head in the center. Maybe will try again and see if I can get a better picture.

Some of the Calvary are camped at the interpretive center tonight. This horse has the neatest markings. almost blends in with the trees.

A little sightseeing

Today we went into Corinth for a little sightseeing. First this morning we went to the Civil war interpretive center. Forgot my camera so will have to go back. We also went to the visitors center . The lady there was very informative. She gave us lots of brochures to look over and showed us on a map different things to see. And where to eat. Then after going back to the trailer for lunch we went into town to the depot. This is where two tracks cross. One going east to west and one north to south.

While we were there 3 trains went through going to the west. Here is one of them

We then went to the Corinth National Cemetery. This is not just for Civil war soldiers. There were some buried here from all wars. Even after they are out of service.

Notice how they all line up. No matter how you look at them they are all in straight rows. Tomorrow we are heading for Shiloh battlefield. Should be good.  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

We are in Corinth

We arrived here around about 3:30 this afternoon. We had some pretty good roads and also one that was real nasty. Bumpity bumpity bump. Eli did not like it at all. Tomorrow we are going into the visitors center and get some info on this town. We will not get up real early as we have quite a few days to do this. Need to find out exactly where The Shiloh battlefield is from here. They have a 40 % chance of rain for Sat. Hope not. We are staying at a campground here that also has a gun club. I went down and looked at the trap house. I think they are automatic. Bunch of clay pigeons in them. Don't know if they will be shooting here while we are here or not. Well don't know much else tonight. We have a night light right above us so Eli has his own light for when he goes out. Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

We move again tomorrow

We arrived here in Montgomery Al. about 4 yesterday afternoon. Got set up and then a little later Thelma and I went to Olive Garden. We had not been to one in quite awhile. It was good. WE have leftovers for Tomorrow evening. We are going to Corinth Ms. We will be there for a week. We will leave there on the 2nd of April and start for home. Probably two days. We are going to the Shiloh battlefield and on Sat a reenactment of it. That should be good. There is a lot of civil war stuff in Corinth. Should have some pictures next week after we get there. Leaving in morning

We will be leaving here in the morning and heading to Montgomery Al. We will stay there at least a day. We will eventually end up in Corinth Miss. We will go to a civil war reenactment. Shiloh battle is 150 years ago. As you know yesterday we went to St Augustine. Here are a few pictures

We eat again.

This morning we had biscuits and gravy with eggs like you want. Boy was that good. One lady made the biscuits from scratch and another lady made the gravy. One of the men made the eggs. This evening we had ribs. Short ribs I think they called it. Creamed potatoes, onion rings carrots and desserts Thelma made strawberries that we bought this morning at a stand in Lake city Also had cake and cream puffs. We sure do eat good.
Tomorrow morning we are having potato pancakes and scrambled eggs. Not sure what else. Tomorrow night is ham . We are taking a day trip to St Augustine on Thurs right after breakfast.  Well that is it for tonight  Later all We are enjoying this outing. Ron Thelma and Eli

New campground

We have moved to Oaks and Pines campground at Lake City Fl. Nice spot. We have the clubhouse for our own use. We are with the full timers. The one guy cooks the breakfast and dinner while we are here. Charges 2.00 per person for 6 meals. Had meatballs and spaghetti tonight. Ribs tomorrow night Ham and some other fixings Wed night. We will eat good. We have full hookup here and WiFi plus cable. Living the good life. I need to work on all the pictures I took this week. 509 to be exact. A little tuning and cropping and they will be up on the website.  Well almost bedtime.  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Really behind

It looks like I didn't post at all this week. We have been busy all week. I have taken pictures since we got there. Almost 500 in the Picasa web album. Now I need to get them uploaded to the web. Will do that next week when we have wifi. When we got back to the trailer at night after our program it was late by the time I put the pictures on Picasa and checked email. This next week will be laid back. Maybe we can get a little rest. Sleep in. Today is the last day. This evening we have some entertainment and then our parade of states and provinces. This is when all state parade across the stage and make all the noise you can. Should be a good one. I finally had the afternoon free so worked some more on pictures and thought I would update the blog. We leave tomorrow morning for Lake City Fl for a full timers campout. Then we are heading up to Tennessee for a Civil War Reenactment. That is at the end of March After that we will start for the northern area. Back to Fort Wayne. Well That is for now. Nice Day Till Now

Today was a great day. Sunny and 75 or more. Had shorts on all day. This evening just after I came back to the camper it let loose. It has been raining and lightning for about an hour now. At least it is after everything is done for the day. The entertainment last night was great. This lady sang a tribute to Patsy Kline. She was good. Tonight we had the Tallahassee big band. It was okay but not my kind of music. They seemed to like it so okay. I would rather have country. I guess that is it for tonight. Tomorrow we have our State pictures taken. They have a professional come in and do them. He usually does school pictures. He has done these for quite a few years. Well later all Ron Thelma and Eli

Almost ready

Tomorrow is the official start of the retiree rally. I think most are in. I need to take pictures again in the morning. Still might not get them all. There is quite a lot going on tomorrow. Will be busy. But that is what I like. We sat around with some friends this afternoon solving all the worlds problems. Yea right. Dreary Day

Today was a dreary day. I don't think the sun was out at all. We had church this morning and then
Thelma and I went to a Winn-Dixie grocery. Got a few thinks so I can make omelets in the morning. Right after I take some pictures of the Chairmen of the committees for the rally. Then we are mostly free the rest of the day. Will probably have to do it again Tuesday as some of the men are going to play golf. I guess I have to work around their schedule. It has sprinkled here some today. Not a whole lot. We have a lot of the campers in today. The rest should arrive tomorrow I would think.  Well that is it for tonight.  Later all Ron Thelma and Eli

North Florida Fairgrounds

We arrived this morning about 11 at the fairgrounds where our retiree rally will be. Most of the committee people are in now. Tomorrow the rest will start to come in . Sunday and Monday are early bird days. Hope we have a good turnout. We spent the day getting set up and then this evening went to Logan's to eat. We went to another restaurant but when we saw the prices we left I am not paying over 20 for a steak . I don't care how good it is. What we had at Logan's was very good.  Well that is it for tonight. Leaving in morning

Today is the last day here. Tomorrow we are going into the Fairgrounds in Tallahassee. We sure have enjoyed our stay here. Today was a cloudy dreary day. Too bad it had to end on this weather. Here is what it looked like this morning.

As you can see the fog is gone but no sun today. Well it was nice for 4 days. We will try and come back here again when in this area. If you are in the area it is worthwhile to stop. This is the east bank COE on Lake Seminole. A great place. When we get to the big city I will find a McDs and upload all the pictures I took so far this winter and put a link on here for all of them. Another great day and sunset

When I look at the sunsets I think of what God created in the beginning. How could it be so beautiful. Well he didn't make ugly things in this world of ours . This noon or a little before we took of for Quincy Fl which is a little east of here to Winn Dixie Grocery. We stopped at a restaurant to eat lunch and I purchased a paper. In it was an ad for Winn Dixie. They had a lot on sale. We got out of there with over 50. Then this evening we had another beautiful sunset. You might get tired of these eventually. But it's my blog and I love them so here is another one

Another gorgeous day

Another great day here at East Bank COE. This campground is on Lake Seminole. It is on the Fl Ga line. It has 37,000 acres of water, 376 miles of shoreline and over 22,000 acres of land. This lake is humongous. Today Thelma and I drove over to the dam. They generate power here. When we drove the road to the dam we went from Ga to Fl and then back again. Our phones are on Central time and the campground here is on Eastern. The tower for cell phones is on the Fl side of the lake. Some of the stations for TV are from Fl are on CDT. Well Here are some pictures from today including a couple of sunsets.

Now here is a couple from the MOC that we went out to dinner with Sunday afternoon. Good mexican food and good visit with friends They have a Greyhound called Sunshine. She is such a sweetheart.

This is Jim, Carol and Sunshine. She is in the middle. She about went crazy when whe we got back from eating. We had to replace the battery in the trailer. It was shot. That was why the slide would not come in. It took them a little over and hour to fix it. This place is called Tri-am trailer sales. They are in Ocala. Great service and friendly bunch of people. We got here around 4 this afternoon. Well that is it for tonight  later all RonThelma and Eli

Flea Market day

This morning we got up around 8 and did our stuff here and then headed for a place to eat breakfast. The lady at the campground had told me about a restaurant down the road but we didn't see it so we ended up at IHop. We had a good breakfast but the coffee was 2:29 a cup. I know coffee is expensive but jeez that is ridiculous. Then we went to the Market of Marion. This is a pretty good size flea market. We spent about 4 hrs there. We were both tired by the time we got through. We bought some stuff. This evening we went to church at 6. Now tomorrow morning we can sleep in a little later.  Think we are going to the place where the MOC friends are staying tomorrow afternoon. That will be our last day here in this area.

MOC Friends

Hey Ron when you go to meet people you haven't seen for awhile take the camera. We met Jim and Carol and Sunshine today for lunch and forgot to take the camera. Duh. I usually take it with us when we are out and about. Well we will see them Sunday as we are going to their park to see what it is like. They had the greyhound along. She is so cute. Not quite as tall as our son's Grey's. She was really good while we ate. We sat outside and that way she could be with us. We hope to do some sightseeing while here. We only have a couple of days. We think the mail is straitened out. I went to the post office here in Ocala  and talk to the manager. He called the post office at home and they have the right address now so our son should start getting the mail. Sure hope so. We have cable here so getting to see all the damage around the country from tornado's. Boy is that bad. Hope everyone stays safe. Well guess that is it for tonight. More tomorrow. We have moved

We are now in Ocala at Wandering Oaks campground. Not too bad of a place. It is not where I would stay for a long time. We are here for 4 days. Having trouble with our mail being fowarded. It was supposed to start going back to Ft Wayne to our sons house. Nope. we got some today at Lake wales. I will call the post office in Fort Wayne tomorrow and see what happened. That is the trouble with this mail stuff. Maybe if they raise the rates again they can get it right. Not sure what we will do tomorrow. Want to get together with some Montana owners for lunch. Moving tomorrow

Tomorrow we move up the road about 122 miles to Ocala. Staying at a full hook up campground. Will be there till Monday and then move to East Bank COE park. We have enjoyed our stay here and will miss the place. Hoping to maybe get a lot rented here again next year. The lot we are on the guy says we will not rent next year. He wants to sell it. That is a shame as we liked the lot. We have a lot to do in the morning to get ready .
Since we are only going 122 miles we aren't in any hurry to get going. They are paving the road in front of us so that might make a difference as to when we get started. This paving was to be done by the end of Jan. Boy that must have been a long month. This afternoon we went to the grocery to get a few things. We are stocked up for a few more days. We went out with some friends for one last lunch together.  Well guess that is it for today. Will update tomorrow after we get all set up in our new place. Almost time to move on

We have three more days here and then move up to ocala for 4 days and then to COE park on the Fl Ga line. Will be there till we go to Tallahassee fairgrounds for our rally. Yesterday Eli got groomed and had his teeth cleaned They use ultrasonic with water to clean them He was a little loopy when we brought him home. He is still just laying around today. But he does that a lot. He is getting older. I washed part of the camper yesterday morning have part to do yet. Wed will be packing day. When we are  out this long in one place we seem to get a lot out. This afternoon we went to Bartow to a Office Depot so I could get some ink for the printer. Black had run out. To the gulf

Today we went and picked up some friends in Arcadia and went to a state park on the gulf. Well first we had a great lunch. I had a big fish sandwich. It had bassa in it. Good. Had it blackened. We sat on the beach for and hour or so and then headed back. I only took a few pics.  Should have taken one of the gulf. Here is a couple of them

This is a Great Blue Heron. The guy fishing had feed him a fish so he was waiting for some more. He stayed there till the guy left. Then flew off.

Tarpon Springs, Fl

Today three of us couples drove to Tarpon Springs. This is the sponge capital of the US. Thelma and I rode with one couple of and came home with the other couple. We had a great time. Too bad it is so far there. We didn't have a lot of time to see everything. We left at 9 and got back about 6:30. Made a long day for Eli. Here are  a few pictures from that trip

At lunch one of the ladies ordered an appetizer. It is some kind of cheese that they set on fire. Man what flames. When this waiter was clearing our table he took on to many plates as one dropped on the floor

This one was right where a guy was fishing. He was looking for a handout. There was supposed to be some dolphins in this bay but we did not see any.
